The Cameroon Ark project is an adopted project within Kingdom Impact Today (UK) while being a Registered Non-Profit Association in Cameroon.
The charitable purpose of Cameroon Ark will be to provide the means to initially complete and launch the Forest Centre and Sustainable Butterfly Farm and provide an income for several extended families within Obout Village, Central Cameroon as they endeavour to build and operate the facility to attract both visitors and researchers to Central Cameroon while also selling locally produced butterfly and moth livestock and sustainably produced or legally collected, high quality, scientifically valuable papered insect specimens (with full GPS data) to:
1) DISCOVER - Highlight the beauty and biodiversity of this region of the Congo Basin Rainforest including describing new species, life cycles, biology and ecology;
2) CONSERVE - Act in a stewardship capacity to preserve, conserve and maintain for future generations the biodiversity, acting as a biological reservoir for existing and currently unidentified species as well as a source of natural medicines and chemicals - ultimately our goal is to purchase, maintain and protect areas of primary and secondary forest in Central Cameroon;
3) EDUCATE - Educate local children and students regarding the environment in which they live and the biology that surrounds them;
4) SUPPORT - Train a next generation of guides and forest stewards. The monies raised by and through the project will enable a total of 20 people minimum to have a sustainable income. These people are currently unemployed.
